MURPHY GROVE ROAD CLOSED EFFECTIVE MARCH 31
Closure part of Route 501 passing lane construction

LYNCHBURG, Va.-Murphy Grove Road, state route 610, in Halifax County at its midpoint connection with LP Bailey Highway, U.S. 501, will be closed to traffic beginning Wednesday, March 31, 2021, weather permitting. A signed detour will be in place.

Access to all private entrances will be maintained during the closure period for landowners and emergency response vehicles. The closure will be in place until mid-June, weather permitting.

Message boards, cones and other traffic control devices will alert motorists to the changes in traffic pattern.

Haymes Brothers, Inc. of Chatham, Va. was awarded the contract for widening and construction of passing lanes on LP Bailey Memorial Highway, U.S. 501 in January. The project is scheduled to be complete by spring 2023.
