LOCAL MOTORISTS URGED TO PLAN FOR UPCOMING EVENT TRAFFIC
Festivals occurring in September and October

LYNCHBURG, Va.-Local motorists should be prepared for an increase in traffic and changes in traffic pattern on U.S. 29 and several side roads during upcoming events in the Blairs/Tightsqueeze areas of Pittsylvania County.

During the first event on September 3-5, there will be an uptick in traffic. Signs will assist motorists and Virginia State Police (VSP) will be on hand at the U.S. 29/ R and L Smith Rd (Va. 863) Intersection during peak ingress/egress hours.

From September 8 to the morning of September 13, a more significant increase in traffic, including campers, will use these same areas. Motorists should anticipate delays, closed roads and crossovers, and designated lanes on U.S. 29 for thru and event traffic. VSP will assist during this event.

Again, an increase in traffic, including campers, will access these areas from October 1 to the morning of October 4. Traffic control similar in nature to that of the September 8-13 event will be in place to include closed roads and crossovers and designated lanes for thru and event traffic. VSP will again assist.

When possible, local motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes, avoid distractions and plan travel around peak event traffic.
