U.S. 58 OVER SANDY CREEK TRAFFIC TEMPORARILY DETOURED
LYNCHBURG, Va. – Ongoing wet weather has created issues with the pavement on U.S. 58 over Sandy Creek in Pittsylvania County. As a result, motorists will temporarily detour through Milton, North Carolina.
Beginning at 5 a.m. on Monday, January 7, the signed detour will be in place for east- and westbound Route 58 traffic. The detour will use Route 62, pass through Milton, take Route 57 and Route 119 and return to Route 58.
A length of pavement is breaking up due to weather and increased traffic. Contractors working for the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will mill and overlay the current surface. Traffic should return to the current configuration by Friday.
Repairs on Route 58 have been underway since lanes closed following storms earlier this year. These repairs should, weather permitting, be complete in late February.
