ODD FELLOWS ROAD RE-OPENED TO THRU TRAFFIC
Work continues on second phase of improvements
VDOT Lynchburg District Engineer Chris Winstead, Senator Mark Peake, Commonwealth Transportation Board member Bert Dodson, Jr., Councilman Turner Perrow and Robert O’Brian, Jr., Chair of Lynchburg Business Alliance’s Lynchburg Regional Transportation Advocacy Group prepare to open Odd Fellows Road to traffic.
LYNCHBURG —While work continues on the second phase of improvements on Odd Fellows Road from US 460 to the Lynchburg Expressway in the City of Lynchburg, motorists will be pleased to know that the road has been re-opened to thru traffic as of this morning. Now that the road has been re-opened, traffic can travel the entire length of Odd Fellows Road from US 460 to the Lynchburg Expressway.
Phase One of the Route 460/29 Odd Fellows Road Interchange improvements was completed in summer 2018. This project involved the extension of Odd Fellows Road and construction of an interchange at Route 460/29 and a roundabout at Odd Fellows Road and Mayflower Drive.
Phase Two continues the improvements by constructing a new bridge over the railroad, adding sidewalk and shared use path facilities, and constructing a roundabout on Odd Fellows Road at the intersections with Albert Lankford Road and Murray Place.
Motorists are reminded that work is not complete on this project and caution is urged. Temporary lane closures and delays are possible.
