PUBLIC HEARINGS TO BE HELD ON BOWERS HILL INTERCHANGE IMPROVEMENTS STUDY
Public invited to attend virtually and in-person to learn about plans for Bowers Hill interchange
SUFFOLK - The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will hold a public hearing virtually Tuesday, April 26, and in-person Wednesday, April 27 to share information and receive feedback on VDOT's recommended preferred alternative for the Bowers Hill Interchange Improvements Study.
The study evaluates options to improve the I-664 Bowers Hill interchange in the cities of Chesapeake, Suffolk and Portsmouth and covers the junction of I-664, I-64, I-264, Route 13, Route 58, Route 460 and Route 191 (Jolliff Road), as well as 7 miles of I-664 to College Drive (exit 8A).
Virtual Public Hearing
Tuesday, April 26, 5:30 p.m.

In-Person Public Hearing
Wednesday, April 27, 5-7 p.m.
VDOT Hampton Roads District
7511 Burbage Drive, Suffolk, VA 23435
VDOT's recommended preferred alternative is Alternative C, the addition of one managed lane and a part-time drivable shoulder in both directions on I-664 to help reduce congestion, improve travel reliability and provide an additional travel choice while balancing costs and impacts. This includes improvements to the Bowers Hill interchange and consideration of improvements to other interchanges within the study area.
The purpose of the meeting is to give citizens an opportunity to review the study exhibits on display, meet with VDOT representatives and provide input. The virtual meeting will include a presentation by the VDOT project team with the opportunity for the public to ask questions verbally and via an online chat format. The in-person public hearing will be an open-house format meeting with no formal presentation. Media are invited to attend both sessions. To learn more about the details of the project, visit https://vdotmeeting.com/bowershill.
Comments from the public regarding the proposed project may be submitted online, by phone, in-person or via email by May 7, 2022 to Andrew.Pike@VDOT.Virginia.gov. Written comments postmarked by May 7 may also be submitted by mail addressed to Bowers Hill Interchange Improvements Study, 11827 Canon Boulevard, Suite 402, Newport News, VA 23606.
In case of technical issues or inclement weather, the virtual public hearing back-up date is May 3 at 5:30 p.m. and the in-person back-up date is May 4, 2022, from 5-7 p.m. at the same location.
