VDOT News - Fredericksburg

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will begin construction next week to improve safety at the Route 610 (Old Plank Road) and Ashleigh Park Boulevard intersection in Spotsylvania County.

Work will begin on Monday, May 2 to reconstruct the westbound right turn lane on Old Plank Road to Ashleigh Park Boulevard. The turn lane will be built offset from the travel lane to improve sight distance for left turns from Ashleigh Park Boulevard.

The nearly $900,000 project will also improve drainage at the intersection and build new sidewalk with a handicap-accessible ramp.

Crews will be working Mondays through Fridays. All travel lanes will be open during peak morning and afternoon hours on weekdays. Single lane closures will be scheduled during daytime and overnight hours. Periodic weekend work may also be needed.

The intersection improvement project is anticipated to be complete in July 2022.

The project contractor is M & F Concrete Inc., of Manassas.
