NEW BRIDGE OPENS ON DODGE CITY ROAD IN CAROLINE COUNTY
VDOT state forces bridge crew replaced structurally deficient timber deck bridge; Dodge City Road reopened to through traffic on Tuesday

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – A new bridge opened today over Beverly Run on Route 665 (Dodge City Road) in Caroline County.

A Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) state forces bridge crew finished the project on Tuesday, and reopened Dodge City Road to through traffic. A detour had been in place since construction began in Sept. 2021.

The project replaced a 27-foot-long timber deck bridge that was classified as structurally deficient.

The new 45-foot-long concrete slab bridge has concrete abutments and piles. New pavement was installed at the bridge and at the approaches, along with new guardrail.

An average of 221 vehicles a day travel on this portion of Dodge City Road, according to a recent VDOT traffic count.
