SEVERAL ROADS CLOSED IN WESTMORELAND COUNTY AFTER SEVERE STORM
Downed trees and utility lines have several roads closed in the Oak Grove area, including Route 3 and Route 205
8 p.m. UPDATE: Crews have reopened Route 3, Route 205 and Claymount Road. Both Ferry Landing Road and Mattox Road remain closed with downed trees or utility lines.
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Several roads in Westmoreland County are closed with downed trees and utility lines after a severe storm moved through the Oak Grove area, including Route 3 and Route 205.
Crews with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) are reporting at least five roads closed with the potential for more closures as they respond to the affected area.
The following roads are currently closed in Westmoreland County:
- Route 3
- Route 205
- Claymount Road
- Ferry Landing Road
- Mattox Road
Motorists are advised to check 511Virginia for a real-time list of roads closed. Road conditions may vary across the 14-county Fredericksburg District. Call 511, visit 511virginia.org, or download the free mobile 511Virginia app. Use the Text Views option to view a full list of closed roads by locality or district.
Drivers should plan to reduce speed and proceed with caution. Expect the unexpected, with potential debris in the road ahead.
Stay alert for VDOT, utility and contractor crews working along the roadside to clear downed trees and restore power. Remember to move over and slow down for stopped vehicles with flashing, blinking or alternating blue, red or amber lights.
