ROUTE 301 SOUTHBOUND REDUCED TO ONE LANE IN KING GEORGE FOR EMERGENCY REPAIR
Right southbound lane closed near Route 616 (Washington Mill Road) due to slope failure
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Route 301 southbound near Route 616 (Washington Mill Road) has been reduced to one lane in King George County for motorist safety due to the failure of an adjacent slope.
Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews have posted barrels and a message board to alert drivers to the right lane closure on Route 301 southbound in the Allnut area of the county.
All northbound lanes on Route 301 remain open.
Plans for an emergency repair are underway, but a reopening date is not immediately available.
Motorists may experience delays near the lane closure.
An average of 22,000 vehicles travel Route 301 in this area each day, according to a VDOT traffic count.
