ROUTE 301 SOUTHBOUND LANE REOPENS IN KING GEORGE
Emergency repair to restore adjacent slope near Washington Mill Road is now substantially complete

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Route 301 southbound in King George County was restored to two travel lanes today near the Washington Mill Road intersection.

Emergency repairs are substantially complete to restore a slope next to Route 301 southbound that failed following heavy rain and flooding on June 11, 2021.

The final task connected with this project, the installation of guardrail, will occur within the next several weeks. The shoulder of Route 301 southbound will remain closed until guardrail is installed.

To restore the slope, which supports the road, crews installed a concrete retaining wall reinforced with soil nails.
