ROUTE 1 CLOSED IN STAFFORD COUNTY
All northbound and southbound lanes are closed for a vehicle crash between Hospital Center Boulevard and American Legion Road

UPDATE (11 a.m.) -- Route 1 northbound and southbound in Stafford County has reopened to traffic between Hospital Center Boulevard and American Legion Road/Eskimo Hill Road. 

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Route 1 northbound and southbound are closed in Stafford County between Hospital Center Boulevard and American Legion Road/Eskimo Hill Road for a vehicle crash.

Route 1 traffic is being detoured along the following recommended route:

American Legion Road/Ramoth Church Road
Courthouse Road
Hospital Center Boulevard

Tractor-trailers and other large vehicles should use this detour route, and not follow direction from mapping services to use Andrew Chapel Road. There is a height restriction of 9 feet, 3 inches on Andrew Chapel Road.

Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews are posting signs to guide motorists along the recommended detour route.

Travelers are advised that heavy congestion currently exists on the I-95 corridor in the Fredericksburg area this morning due to traffic volumes and weather conditions.
