OVERNIGHT RT. 2 CLOSURE IN SPOTSYLVANIA THIS WEEKEND FOR RAIL IMPROVEMENT
Rt. 2 (Tidewater Trail) will be closed at a railroad crossing south of Ruffin Drive from 5 p.m. Saturday, March 27 through 10 a.m. Sunday, March 28
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – A portion of Route 2 (Tidewater Trail) in Spotsylvania County will be closed overnight this weekend to allow for railroad track improvements.
Between 5 p.m. Saturday, March 27 and 10 a.m. Sunday, March 28, Route 2 will be closed by Culpeper Wood Preservers just south of the intersection with Ruffin Drive. Crews will install around 60 ft. of new railroad track and pave the crossing area under permit.
Route 2 traffic will be detoured to use Route 17 (Mills Drive) and Route 608 (Benchmark Road) during these hours.
If additional work is needed beyond 10 a.m. Sunday, Route 2 will be reopened, and a flagging crew will direct one-way, alternating traffic.
Signs will be posted to guide motorists along the detour route.
Message boards have been placed to alert travelers to this upcoming road closure and detour.
