MILLING AND PAVING ON AUSTIN RIDGE DRIVE IN STAFFORD COUNTY STARTS THURSDAY, NOV. 4
Expect lane closures on Austin Ridge Drive between Mine Road and Courthouse Road
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is starting resurfacing work to improve the ride and freshen pavement markings on Austin Ridge Drive in Stafford County.
Crews will begin operations starting tomorrow, Nov. 4.
Drivers will encounter daytime and overnight lane closures for approximately two weeks in the work zone on Austin Ridge Drive between Mine Road and Courthouse Road. Mobile crews will be milling, paving, and applying pavement markings.
Alternating crews are scheduled to work day and night to complete resurfacing as soon as possible as air temperatures begin to fall. Temperatures must be above freezing in order for crews to apply the new asphalt. The 12-hour shifts will seek to minimize travel delays and inconvenience of the work zone in the residential area.
Starting tomorrow through Monday, Nov. 15, crews will work 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. then 7 p.m. – 6 a.m. There will be no work or lane closures between 6 a.m. – 9 a.m.
Motorists may experience a temporary rough travel surface in milled areas until crews pave and restore a smooth, travel surface.
Flaggers will direct drivers in the work zone with single lane closures on Austin Ridge Drive.
Weather permitting, all work should be complete by late November. Pavement marking is anticipated to be completed between Nov. 15 and late November. Temporary pavement markers will be installed until permanent markings are applies.
Around 3,500 vehicles a day travel on Austin Ridge Drive, according to a recent VDOT traffic study.
