LOCUST HILL ROAD NOW OPEN IN KING WILLIAM COUNTY
VDOT state forces replaced two large drainage pipes at Dorrell Creek

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews have substantially completed a project to replace two large drainage pipes on Route 608 (Locust Hill Road) over Dorrell Creek in King William County.

Locust Hill Road has reopened to traffic between Route 609 (Smokey Road) and Route 628 (Dorrell Road).

VDOT replaced two deteriorated corrugated metal pipes installed in 1974 with two new 32-foot concrete pipes. The new structure also has new concrete head walls supported by piles.

Locust Hill Road had been closed to through traffic since construction began in late September 2020.

Paving to apply the final travel surface will occur within several weeks.

Around 100 vehicles a day travel Locust Hill Road near Dorrell Creek, according to a recent traffic count.
