I-95 ROAD WORK RETURNS POST-HOLIDAY NEAR FREDERICKSBURG
Daytime and overnight lane closures planned this week on I-95
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Travelers may experience delays on Interstate 95 with daytime and overnight lane closures planned this week in the Fredericksburg area for maintenance and the Improve 95 construction program.
Starting tomorrow, Dec. 1 and Thursday, Dec. 2, midday travel delays are expected on I-95 southbound for a routine safety inspection of the Rappahannock River Bridge for local traffic. The Rappahannock River Bridge is located at mile marker 132 and connects Stafford County to the City of Fredericksburg. The bridge inspection must occur during the daylight hours to safely perform the work.
Also on Wednesday, I-95 southbound will be reduced to one travel lane beginning at 10 p.m. between exit 136 (Centreport Parkway) and exit 133 (Route 17) in Stafford County for various construction activities with the 95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension project.
Motorists are encouraged to check 511Virginia.org for real-time information on lane closures, work zones, traffic and other incidents.
Message boards will also be posted to alert drivers to the work zones.
Weather permitting, lane closures on I-95 are scheduled at the following dates and times:
Tuesday, Nov. 30 – Wednesday, Dec. 1
• I-95 Northbound at exit 130 (Route 3)
o 9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. – Single lane closure
• I-95 Northbound at exit 133 (Route 17)
o 9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. – Single lane closure
Wednesday, Dec. 1
• I-95 Southbound at Rappahannock River Bridge for local lanes
o 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. – Single lane closure
• I-95 Northbound at exit 130 (Route 3)
o 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. – Single lane closure
Wednesday, Dec. 1 – Thursday, Dec. 2
• I-95 Northbound at exit 130 (Route 3)
o 9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. – Single lane closure
• I-95 Northbound at exit 133 (Route 17)
o 9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. – Single lane closure
• I-95 Southbound at exit 136 (Centreport Parkway) to exit 133 (Route 17)
o 9 p.m. – 10 p.m. – Single lane closure
o 10 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. – Double lane closure
o 4:30 a.m. – 6 a.m. – Single lane closure
