UPDATE: A lane closure scheduled for this evening on the Downing Bridge in the Tappahannock area has been rescheduled for the evening of Tuesday, Nov. 23.

Between 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, and 6 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24, Route 360 will be reduced to a single travel lane on the bridge, with one-way, alternating traffic.

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Travelers can expect overnight delays crossing the Downing Bridge in the Tappahannock area on the evening of Thursday, Nov. 18, as crews finish a bridge maintenance project.

Between 8 p.m. Thursday and 6 a.m. Friday, Nov. 19, Route 360 will be reduced to a single travel lane, with one-way, alternating traffic.

The Downing Bridge carries Route 360 over the Rappahannock River between Richmond and Essex counties.

Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and contractor crews will be conducting a final inspection of recent maintenance work on Downing Bridge. Concrete repairs to the bridge deck and bridge joints were made to help to protect the bridge structure from deterioration, and also provide a smoother ride for motorists.
