EXPECT DAYTIME DELAYS ON NORRIS BRIDGE IN OCTOBER
Route 3 will be reduced to one-way, alternating traffic between 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. weekdays for a routine, scheduled inspection of Norris Bridge during the month of October

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – A routine, scheduled inspection of the Robert O. Norris Bridge begins on Monday, Oct. 4.
Route 3 travelers can expect brief daytime delays crossing the bridge over the Rappahannock River between Lancaster and Middlesex counties throughout the month of October.

Between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on weekdays, through Friday, Oct. 29, a portion of the bridge will be reduced to a single travel lane. Automated flagging devices will direct traffic through the work zone. Flagging crew members operate the devices, which can be rapidly adjusted to respond to congestion or incidents on the bridge.

Lane closures have been scheduled weather permitting. Message boards will be posted at both bridge approaches to alert travelers to upcoming work zones.

Real-time updates on lane closures for this work zone are available on 511virginia.org. Travelers can also download the free mobile 511Virginia app, or call 511 from any phone in Virginia.
