TONIGHT: BRIEF DELAYS AT ELTHAM BRIDGE
Route 30/33 traffic between the Town of West Point and New Kent County will be stopped for several drawbridge openings beginning at 7 p.m.
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Travelers on Route 30/33 can expect brief delays crossing the Eltham Bridge starting at 7 p.m. tonight during a series of scheduled test drawbridge openings.
Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews continue to test electrical equipment that operates the drawbridge. New equipment was recently installed as part of a routine maintenance upgrade at the bridge.
The Eltham Bridge crosses the Pamunkey River and connects the Town of West Point and New Kent County. It carries an average of 21,000 vehicles a day.
Several consecutive drawbridge openings are scheduled to occur tonight. Each opening will last up to 15 minutes.
Route 30/33 traffic will be cleared between each drawbridge opening.
Additional openings may be scheduled this month as testing continues.
