SINGLE LANE ON ROUTE 1 NORTHBOUND CLOSED IN SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY
Right lane near Caroline County line will remain closed through the weekend until emergency pavement repairs are complete
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has closed the right lane on Route 1 northbound in Spotsylvania County near the Caroline County line due to uneven pavement surface.
The right lane on Route 1 northbound between Arcadia Road and the Caroline County line will remain closed through the weekend until emergency pavement repairs are complete.
A private developer’s paving operation was shut down last night, Jan. 2, for not complying with VDOT guidelines.
Crews have set up a work zone with signage, barrels and crash cushion trucks near the uneven pavement.
VDOT has secured a contractor to complete the emergency repairs. The contractor is estimating the work will take several days, weather permitting.
Crews will have to mill and pave to reopen the lane with a safe travel surface.
The right lane on Route 1 northbound is anticipated to reopen next week.
