REMINDER: EXPECT I-95 DELAYS TONIGHT IN STAFFORD
All I-95 traffic northbound will be stopped intermittently between midnight and 3 a.m. early Friday, Feb. 14 for reconstruction of the Truslow Road overpass between Exit 133 (Route 17) and Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway)
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Tonight, Interstate 95 northbound travelers can expect major travel delays in Stafford County as construction crews continue to build a new overpass for Route 652 (Truslow Road), which is located between I-95 Exit 133 (Route 17) and Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway).
Intermittent full traffic stops for I-95 northbound will occur between midnight and 3 a.m. early Friday, Feb. 14.
Traffic may be stopped for up to 30 minutes at a time. In between each stop, congestion will be allowed to clear before the next full stop. Lane closures are scheduled on I-95 northbound at the following times:
Thursday, Feb. 13 – Friday, Feb. 14
- 9 p.m. – 10 p.m. – Single lane closure
- 10 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. – Double lane closure
- Midnight to 3 a.m. – Intermittent full traffic stops up to 30 minutes
- 4:30 a.m. – All lanes open
Drivers are advised to consider using Route 1 as an alternate route to avoid delays. Message boards will be posted along I-95 to alert motorists to delays ahead.
Virginia State Police will assist with traffic control in the work zone.
Crews are replacing the Truslow Road overpass as part of the I-95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension project.
Construction to demolish the overpass began on January 27, when Truslow Road closed to through traffic at the interstate crossing. Nighttime demolition work to remove the overpass is complete. Demolition work will continue during daytime hours for several weeks. Overnight construction activity and I-95 lane closures will be needed through late 2020 as crews continue work to build a new overpass.
