PAVING BEGINS ON I-95 SOUTHBOUND NEXT WEEK IN CAROLINE COUNTY
Expect overnight lane closures from south of the Spotsylvania County and Caroline County line to the I-95 Southbound Safety Rest Area for the next several weeks
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will begin milling and paving a section of Interstate 95 southbound in Caroline County next week.
Southbound I-95 travelers should anticipate overnight lane closures and potential delays through late May 2020.
Crews will be milling and paving from south of the Spotsylvania County and Caroline County line, at mile marker 117, to the I-95 Southbound Safety Rest Area, located at mile marker 108.
The $2.7 million project will mill and pave all three general purpose lanes, the deceleration lane and entrance to the Safety Rest Area, and the on- and off-ramps at Exit 110 (Route 639/Ladysmith Road).
Weather permitting, crews will work at night on Sundays through Thursdays, 8 p.m. – 6 a.m. after starting Monday, April 13.
Motorists should be alert for a temporary, rough travel surface in milled areas.
Message boards will provide advance notice of the lane closures and possible delays.
Updated work schedules will be shared through VDOT’s Fredericksburg District Twitter account and Fredericksburg District Facebook page. It will also be included in the weekly lane closure list, Hot Spots, which is posted on Friday afternoons to VDOT’s Travel Center page.
