MILLING AND PAVING BEGINS SUNDAY, SEPT. 13 ON ROUTE 3 EASTBOUND NEAR I-95 AT FREDERICKSBURG
Work will affect I-95 ramps at Exit 130 in Fredericksburg; Drivers should expect overnight single lane closures on Route 3 eastbound and I-95 ramp closures with a detour
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Beginning Sunday, September 13, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will begin milling and paving Route 3 eastbound from Bragg Road in Spotsylvania County to Gateway Boulevard in the City of Fredericksburg.
The milling and paving project includes the I-95 northbound off-ramp to Route 3 eastbound and the I-95 southbound on-ramp from Route 3 eastbound at Exit 130/Fredericksburg.
I-95 Ramp Closures
The I-95 on and off-ramps at Exit 130/Fredericksburg will be closed on the following dates and times:
- Tuesday, 9 p.m. until 4 a.m. Wednesday
- Wednesday, 9 p.m. until 4 a.m. Thursday
- Friday, 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. Saturday
- Saturday, 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. Sunday
I-95 northbound traffic seeking to access Route 3 eastbound will be detoured to use I-95 Exit 130B to Route 3 westbound, then directed to make a U-turn at Carl D. Silver Parkway to Route 3 eastbound.
Route 3 eastbound traffic seeking to access I-95 southbound will be directed to stay on Route 3 eastbound to Gateway Boulevard, then directed to make a U-turn at Gateway Boulevard to Route 3 westbound to access the on-ramp to I-95 southbound.
Message boards and additional signs will guide motorists along the ramp detour route.
Route 3 Eastbound Lane Closures
Motorists can anticipate mobile single lane closures on Route 3 eastbound at the following dates and times next week:
- Sunday – Friday, 9 p.m. – 4 a.m. nightly
- Friday – Saturday, 10 p.m. – 9 a.m.
- Saturday – Sunday, 10 p.m. – 9 a.m.
Work includes milling out the existing pavement and replacing it with new asphalt and freshly painted pavement markings.
The milling and paving project is expected to be complete by Monday, Sept. 21, weather permitting.
