FREDERICKSBURG DISTRICT: I-95 CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE REVISED FOR APRIL 15-17
New work zone hours announced for I-95 paving this week in Caroline County

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Work zone hours have been adjusted this week on Interstate 95 southbound in Caroline County for a paving operation between Exit 118 (Thornburg) and the Safety Rest Area at Ladysmith.

Daytime and overnight work also continues on several projects to improve I-95, including the Exit 140 Diverging Diamond Interchange, the I-95 Southbound Rappahannock River Crossing project and the I-95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension project in Stafford County.

Message boards are posted along I-95 to alert motorists to lane closures and possible delays ahead.

Lane closures have been scheduled for the following dates and times, weather permitting:

Wednesday, April 15 – Thursday, April 16

I-95 Northbound from Rappahannock River Bridge to Exit 133 (Route 17), Stafford County

  •  9 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. – Single lane closure

I-95 Southbound from Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway) to Exit 133 (Route 17), Stafford County

  • 9 p.m. to 10 a.m. – Single lane closure

I-95 Southbound, starting at mile marker 117 between Exit 118 (Thornburg) and the Safety Rest Area at Ladysmith, Caroline County

  • 4 a.m. Thursday to 3:30 p.m. Thursday – Single lane closure

Thursday, April 16 – Friday, April 17

I-95 Northbound from Rappahannock River Bridge to Exit 133 (Route 17), Stafford County

  • 9 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. – Single lane closure

I-95 Southbound Exit 133B (Route 17/Falmouth) Exit Ramp CLOSURE, Stafford County

  • 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. I-95 southbound exit ramp toward Warrenton will close to slightly shift traffic onto a temporary alignment. Traffic will be detoured to Exit 133A to Route 17 southbound to merge onto the I-95 northbound auxiliary lane and exit to Route 17 northbound toward Warrenton. Click here for detour map.

  • 4 a.m. Friday to noon Friday – Single lane closure

Friday, April 17 – Saturday, April 18

I-95 Northbound from Rappahannock River Bridge to Exit 133 (Route 17), Stafford County

  • 9 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. – Single lane closure

Virginia State Police will assist with traffic control near the work zones.
