BE ALERT FOR ROUTE 3 EASTBOUND WORK ZONE IN WESTMORELAND COUNTY
Single lane of Route 3 eastbound will be closed in the Menokin area for approximately two weeks to allow VDOT crews to repair stormwater management area

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. Route 3 eastbound in Westmoreland County will be reduced to a single lane in the Menokin area for approximately two weeks to allow Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews to repair a nearby stormwater management area.

The right lane of Route 3 eastbound will close on Monday, Feb. 24, weather permitting. The lane will be closed immediately east of the intersection with Route 690 (Menokin Road). The lane will be closed 24 hours a day until the project is complete, which is estimated to occur by Monday, March 9.

VDOT crews are repairing a dam in a stormwater management area adjacent to the road. The repair requires removing, and then replacing, approximately 2,000 cubic yards of soil and material to restore the dam. A lane closure is required so crews can position heavy equipment and materials necessary to complete the repair.

Motorists are advised to be alert for crews and equipment working in the area, and to follow work zone signs and barrels guiding them through the temporary traffic pattern.
