FREDERICKSBURG DISTRICT: ROAD CONDITIONS MAY BE SLICK MONDAY MORNING
VDOT crews will mobilize at midnight to monitor for icy road conditions on Interstate 95 and across the Fredericksburg area as temperatures drop below freezing

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Motorists are asked to use extra caution and be alert for potentially slick travel surfaces on Monday morning as wet pavement may become icy overnight as temperatures drop below freezing.

Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews will mobilize at midnight in the Fredericksburg area. Crews will patrol Interstate 95 and roads across the region through the morning rush hour travel period for hazardous conditions. Crews will treat state-maintained roads with sand to improve motorist traction and salt to reduce icing.

Travelers are advised to check 511Virginia to see road conditions along their planned route before starting a trip.

Use additional caution on bridges, ramps and overpasses, which freeze first due to lower pavement temperatures. Motorists should also plan to buckle up, reduce their speed, increase following distance between vehicles, and allow for extra braking distance.
