BE ALERT FOR NEW TRAFFIC PATTERN AT MINE ROAD AND AUSTIN RIDGE DRIVE IN STAFFORD
Motorists should use additional caution traveling through intersection; Mine Road connects with Austin Ridge Drive as part of Embrey Mill development
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) asks drivers to use additional caution while navigating a new traffic pattern at the intersection of Austin Ridge Drive and Mine Road in Stafford County.
Motorists turning left from Mine Road onto Austin Ridge Drive must yield to northbound Mine Road traffic. Oncoming traffic along Mine Road does not stop.
Earlier this week, a new section of Mine Road opened as part of the Embrey Mill residential development. Due to this extension, Mine Road traffic now has the right of way at the Austin Ridge Drive intersection. Austin Ridge Drive traffic is controlled by a stop sign.
A temporary yield sign has been placed on Mine Road by VDOT crews to remind left-turning traffic that northbound Mine Road traffic does not stop.
Traffic cones and barrels have been placed along southbound Mine Road to separate through traffic from traffic turning left as a temporary measure.
Northbound Austin Ridge Drive motorists are reminded to come to a complete stop at the stop sign at the Mine Road intersection. Austin Ridge Drive traffic must yield to oncoming traffic before proceeding onto Mine Road.
The posted speed limit is 40 mph at the intersection.
