ANTICIPATE THE WAIT WITH OVERNIGHT LANE CLOSURES ON I-95 NEAR FREDERICKSBURG THIS WEEK
Expect double and single lane closures on I-95 northbound and southbound for Improve 95 projects starting tonight, May 28

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Drivers should anticipate overnight delays with double and single lane closures scheduled this week on Interstate 95 in the Fredericksburg area for several Improve95 projects including:

Weather permitting, the following lane closures are scheduled starting tonight, May 28, which includes overnight double lane closures at Exit 140 (Courthouse Road) in Stafford County: 

I-95 Northbound

Exit 133 (Route 17/Falmouth) 

  • Tuesday Thursday, 9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. 

Expect alternating single lane closures on I-95 northbound near the Exit 133 (Route 17/Falmouth) interchange as crews build two new bridges to replace the existing I-95 overpasses of Route 17 as part of the I-95 Southbound Rappahannock River Crossing project.

 Exit 140 (Route 630/Courthouse Road)

  • Tuesday Thursday, 9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m.  

Expect a single lane to be closed on I-95 northbound near Exit 140 (Route 630/Courthouse Road) starting at 9 p.m. followed by a double lane closure at 10 p.m. The work zone is needed for construction activities as part of the project to reconfigure the interchange to a diverging diamond. All lanes will reopen by 4:30 a.m. 

I-95 Southbound 

Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway) to Exit 130 (Route 3/Fredericksburg) 

  • Tuesday – Thursday, 9 p.m. – 10 a.m. 
  • Thursday – Friday, 9 p.m. – 6 a.m.

Expect alternating single lane closures on I-95 southbound between mile marker 135, south of Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway) in Stafford County and Exit 130 (Route 3) in Fredericksburg. The lane closure is needed for various construction activities for the I-95 Southbound Rappahannock River Crossing project. 

I-95 Northbound and Southbound 

Exit 148 (Quantico) to Exit 143 (Route 610/Garrisonville)

Expect alternating single lane closures on I-95 northbound and southbound between Exit 148 (Quantico) in Prince William County to Exit 143 (Route 610/Garrisonville) in Stafford County. This will be a mobile work zone at various locations between the two interchanges for geotechnical boring work and utility marking for the future I-95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg.

I-95 Northbound

  • Tuesday – Friday,9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m.

I-95 Southbound

  • Tuesday– Thursday, 9m. – 5 a.m. 
  • Thursday – Friday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m.
