NEW TRAFFIC PATTERN COMING SOON ON RT. 20 AT I-64
Safety improvements will reduce delays at busy intersection in Albemarle County

CULPEPER — The Virginia Department of Transportation will update the traffic pattern on Route 20 (Monticello Avenue/Scottsville Road) at the Interstate 64 interchange (exit 121) in Albemarle County to improve safety and traffic flow. Image of intersection improvements on Route 20 at Interstate 64 in Albemarle County

On May 1, VDOT will update the pavement markings and install channelizing devices on southbound Route 20 near I-64.

Traffic exiting I-64 west will have a dedicated lane on southbound Route 20 and will no longer have to merge. Through traffic on southbound Route 20 coming from Charlottesville toward Keene will use the right lane near I-64.

Motorists should pay attention to the new pavement markings and use caution in the area while drivers adjust to the new pattern.
