Information meeting scheduled for Interstate 81 Frontage Road Study in Washington County
May 14, 2019 from 5-7 p.m. at Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center
BRISTOL – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will hold the second of two scheduled information meetings next week for an Interstate 81 (I-81) frontage road study.
The information meeting will be held Tuesday, May 14th from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center, located at One Partnership Circle in Abingdon.
The purpose of the meeting is to give citizens an opportunity to review preliminary study findings, frontage road alignment options, intersection connections, and provide comments that will assist localities and VDOT in identifying and developing a frontage road system that will maintain the safe and efficient movement of people and goods along I-81 between Bristol and Abingdon.
VDOT encourages all interested citizens to attend the information meeting. To give citizens more flexibility in their participation, there will be no formal presentation Instead, citizens will be able to review information with VDOT representatives at their convenience anytime between 5p.m. and 7p.m.
Written and verbal comments will be accepted during the meeting, or may be submitted to VDOT by May 29, 2019. Mail comments to Mr. Blake Ailor, Project Manager, 870 Bonham Road, Bristol, Virginia 24201. Or, email comments to bristolinfo@vdot.virginia.gov, referencing “I-81 Frontage Road Study Bristol/Abingdon” in the email subject line.
